About David Vollmer
David Vollmer is the founder of Vollmer Custom Pools. He started out in the swimming pool industry in 1979, plastering residential and commercial swimming pools in the San Antonio area. He learned the tricks of the trade by diving deep into the different facets of the industry and extensive involvement in each phase of the process. From creating pool designs to the actual swimming pool installation, David made himself known throughout the area because of his comprehensive skill set.
In 1994, he began to design and install custom pools in Houston. A few years later, he branched into management while designing, selling, and installing pools at the same time.
Over the years, he acquired new skills and gained valuable experience to become one of the top swimming pool builders in the local area. He bagged multiple awards from both local and national organizations for his exceptional swimming pool designs and builds.
His dedication to superior craftsmanship and whole-hearted commitment to clients helped him become one of the top and most sought-after pool builders in the Houston Memorial area and beyond.

PHTA – Pool and Hot Tub Alliance
The PHTA was formed in 2019 through the merger of The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals and The National Swimming Pool Foundation. Both organizations have similar goals of making swimming safe, healthy, and fun, so the merger was a logical improvement.
PHTA is the world’s largest association representing a swimming pool, hot tub, and spa manufacturers, distributors, manufacturers’ agents, designers, builders, installers, supplier, retailers, and service professionals. PHTA offers a pool and hot tub education and certification programs, provides valuable membership benefits, develops trusted industry standards, and advocates for critical legislation.
PHTA members adhere to a code of ethics in business and technical practices and share a strong commitment to the safe, healthful, and enjoyable use of industry products.
PHTA – Awards of Excellence
The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance’s International Awards of Excellence program is one of the largest, most well-renowned design competitions in the industry recognizing pool and hot tub installations. The PHTA International Awards of Excellence honors PHTA members whose pools, spas, and water features represent some of the best designs in the industry.
Each year, hundreds of entries showcasing the beauty, creativity, and innovation are submitted by builders around the world. The competition is open only to PHTA member builders, designers, and service and retail firms. Many hundreds of entries are submitted each year, representing member firms from all over the world.
Jandy Pro-Edge
The Jandy “Pro-Edge” designation is reserved for a select few Jandy dealers who meet strict requirements for capability, reputation, and customer satisfaction. Most Jandy equipment (pumps, filters, heaters, etc.) that is installed by an official Jandy Pro-Edge builder receives a three-year warranty instead of the normal one-year warranty.
